Whether it is representing professional athletes, politicians, artists, large institutions or simple litigants, Barry Gogel has seen a lot in his relatively short legal career.  Mr. Gogel is currently a Principal at the Law Offices of Arnold M. Weiner, having helped form the Law Offices of Arnold M. Weiner in 2007 after spending nine years litigating a wide variety of complex business torts and employment related lawsuits at the law firms of Weiner & Weltchek and Ober, Kaler, Grimes & Shriver. He brings to his clients a wealth of experience in high profile and complex litigation.

A member of the American Bar Association, the Maryland State Bar Association, the Baltimore City Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, and the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association, Mr. Gogel also has served on the Board of Directors for the Central Maryland Chapter of the American Red Cross and has been a lecturer for the Institute of Paralegal Education

Mr. Gogel earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in mathematics with honors from the University of Vermont and he earned his Juris Doctorate with honor from the University of Maryland where he won several awards for service and academic excellence.  He has been recognized by his peers as an AV rated attorney, which is the highest rating one can obtain.

State v. Dixon Maryland Circuit Court for Baltimore (2009). Represented Mayor of Baltimore accused of committing misappropriation of gift cards and failing to disclose certain gifts on financial disclosure forms. Case resolved without a criminal conviction. 
Gray & Associates v. McDermott, Will & EmeryUnited States District Court for the Southern District of New York (2009).  Action by litigation trust created out of the bankruptcy of St. Vincent Catholic Medical Center in New York against bankruptcy counsel for negligence, breach of fiduciary duty and conflict of interest.  Confidential Settlement.  Case is continuing against management company and financial advisors
Strudwick v. Whitney Information Network – Maryland Circuit Court for Baltimore (2009). Complex defamation action brought by local business man and investors against publicly traded competitor in real estate industry.  Settled for $3.8 million.
B. Lewis Productions, Inc. v. Angelou – United States District Court for the Southern District of New York (2008).  Defended noted poet against former agent who brought claims of breach of contract and fraud.  Breach of contract case dismissed and summary judgment granted in favor of the poet on the fraud claims.
Prosys Inc. v. Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical System, et al. – Maryland Circuit Court for Baltimore City (2008), intellectual property case to protect computer trade secrets. Confidential settlement.
DDJ Capital Management, LLC v. Rhone Group, LLC – Supreme Court of New York, New York County, claims for fraud brought on behalf of lenders to recover $40,000,000 loan.
Bradley v. Price Trucking – Maryland Circuit Court for Baltimore County (2006), automobile accident case involving tractor-trailer; confidential settlement.
Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, L.P. v. Baltimore Orioles, L.P. – Maryland Circuit Court for Montgomery County (2005), defended professional sports franchise in pay television rights and contract dispute; case dismissed in favor of the Orioles.   >>> more
Sprague v. Civista Medical Center – Claim for failing to undertake a CT scan and identifying Shaken Baby Syndrome. Jury returns first ever plaintiffs verdict in excess of $5 million.
Shea v. Anne Arundel Medical Systems – Jury returns record verdict of $6.4 million in post-delivery negligence matter.
Airbiquity Inc. v. Airbility Inc. - Circuit Court For Orange County, Florida (2002), trademark case, enjoining wireless technology competitor from utilizing confusingly similar name.
Giannaris v. Cheng - 219 F. Supp. 2d 687 (D. Md. 2002), shareholder’s rights case, successfully retaining jurisdiction in Maryland.
LaPointe v. Romano & Mitchell, Chtd. – 146 Md. App. 440 (Md. App. 2002), shareholder’s rights arbitration. Court confirmed award of $180,000 for client.
Cronos Containers, Ltd. v. Amazon Lines, Ltd. – 121 F.Supp.2d 461 (D. Md. 2000), admiralty case, defeating plaintiff’s attempt to establish jurisdiction in Maryland.
